Yes, They're out there, but rare. Supposed to be finer than the run of the mill Escher/Thuringian. Here's an excert from our wiki: Escher Hones - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Check Google as well....
I have two Thuringians with brown/gold streaks in them. I've read about the famed all brown thuringian here on SRP, but I've not yet seen one in person. The ones I have with goldish tints in them have been exceptional quality IMO. Although, six months ago, I'd never met a coticule I didn't love. And that's since been replaced by a love of thuringian stones. So...I could be biased.
the 'so called' brown eschers are stones of comparable (or finer) quality, but likely not eschers, or thuringians..
i hope anyone that knows more about eschers or thuringians or "brown thuringians" to update the wiki..
Afaik there are no all brown Thuringians. There are purple Special Stones and La Lune stones from France which probably have been mined in the Vosgiennes, France. These have been mistakenly referred to as Brown Eschers.
Edit:
Although not referred to as Brown Eschers there are little purple stones that were sold in hinged boxes just like the Thuringians. They've been seen labeled as Fox and Goldfisch Wetzstein.

+1 to what Piet said. A few years ago a former member created a fuss when he posted about a "brown Escher." It was later determined that it was a La Lune, the French stone. Supposed to be quite a finisher in it's own right. I've never had the pleasure of trying one out but if you find one don't pass it up if it is affordable.
Maybe these will helpAttachment 97903

I've seen the old Escher price list, and never saw "Brown" on it. Maybe it was Sham that brought up the topic. Whoever it was, they had credibility, that's for sure. I for one believed it.
Thanks for the update.
