Any thoughts on this for bevel setting

Hi Gents have not been on for a while been job hunting.

Any hoo just bought his and am interested in your thoughts of using this for a bevel setter I used to use 1200 grit sand paper glued to glass but the results were very hit and miss so I bought this and thought I'd ask you guy before I ruin my latest refurb I just notice the picture missing I'll try and get it on here shortly

My King is my favorite bevel setter. A bit on the slow side but it gives better feedback and seems to leave shallower scratches than other bevel setters that I've tried.

I second Theseus, the King is an excellent bevel setter. After a long search for the ultimate 1K ish bevel setter trying the King, Naniwa, DMT, Chosera and currently the JNS (Maxim's version), the King is at par with all of them, albeit a bit slower. The feedback on the King and Chosera is almost identical IMO. You can beat the price of the King as well.

King's tend to be very thirsty, they need to be soaked well before use.

I have never used the 1200 but the 1k I have a fondness for especially for the Softer steels because it is such a gentle cutter...

With slurry you can speed it up a bit and still keep very shallow scratches on the bevel

I have a king 1000 grit i use for bevel setting, i find it to be quick enough for me. And the feel of the stone is very velvety when honeing

Thanks for the info/ link, my stone came with a matsunaga slurry stone it was £27 on eBay I popped in water with the view of trying it but 2 hrs later it was still sucking in water and releasing bubbles like a soluble tablet so i took it out ( it was in the bathroom sink ) I'm going to soak it over night a let the setting begin tomorrow, I have a nice tennis 80 razor that I'm dying to shave with.
