My 6 x2 is still in transit, I should get it this coming week. I will let you guys know how I get one with it.
I was thinking about this post today. The razor I used yesterday, a Gebr Herring, Handmade Manganese, Solingen was ok, but not as comfortable as I like them to be.
It needed a little touching up. I grabbed the Zulu hone, and automatically my Atoma. I started raising a slurry, and stopped. I rinsed off the stone to see how it would do with just water.
The results were very good. I did 20 x strokes, and 20 circles. (10x, 20 circles, 10x) just water. I got a comfortable close bbs shave. BTW, I used Castle Forbes Cedar and Sandalwood. One of my fav's.
I'm really looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts. I honestly don't think anyone will be disappointed. MichaelC really found something good. I already reserved a 3x12.
zib - This sounds like a plan for me when my Zulu-Grey arrives. It also seems you are doing much better? Any Hart Steel or Robert Williams razors that you have tried?
I don't own any Hart razors and I only have the one RW I just got. It'll be sometime before it needs honing. I really don't think it'll be a problem, Honestly.
First round of stones sent. (2nd round off in a few days..)
- Guys, please report back here when you receive your Zulu Greys. I expect some nice "still-in-the-wrapper" pictures before you rip them open :)
And, more importantly, please add you experiences in using the hones...
Thanks guys,
- Mike
Yes, I'm excited to hear the other's thought's as well. The Zulu hone seems to work on anything you throw at it.
It works well with water, and better with slurry...
Now, I'll put some more effort into testing the other two, which are equally good finisher's.
Thanks Rich, I'm pretty keen to hear more of your thoughts regarding my other two hones. Thanks again for doing all this man, your expertise is much appreciated indeed. I'm sure all who are following this thread will agree on that.

Mine just arrived this morning. I give it a go later on. Immediately I noticed, its a hard stone. So getting an extra fine diamond plate is a must for me.
Let us know how you guys make out with your hones, I would love to hear the results.
