Nice find. Interesting to see the gizmos from yester year to make things easier that we go back to b/c they are more skilled to do, and kinda nostalgic! Too bad Billy Mays wasn't around then, may still have been in production today! Could've saved us a lot of money on gear...
I like the statistic: 29/30 people who try stropping fail. Clearly none of them ever watched a stroptober video...

I wonder what the abrasive is/was, and whether you could swap it out?
This thing reminds me of that current sharpening system that they use for knives (there was a video floating around recently where the fellow uses it on a straight as well). Similar idea: hold the razor still, move the stone through the vertical plane. I guess there are not too many other ways to do it, besides a horizontal spinning wheel. :hmmm:
(horizontal spinning wheel idea copyright Jimbo 2012. Pat. pending.)

Could always build one of those leather strap shake the fat off contraptions and miniaturize it for razors. Jiggly sharpened goodness for all! :y

It dries, buffs, and strops all in one easy to use package!:roflmao
Every now and then one of those devices comes up on the 'bay. The seller always wants a small fortune for it. I wonder if it's always the same one for sale, or if they ever sell.

Looks like A. Dey beat Reichardt to it by a full two years! The machines look remarkably similar, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Dey sold the patent to Reichardt.
