Hey yall, I have a coti that was damaged a little, it has been broken off the slate (or is it bbw?, I cannot tell) there is obviously glue of some sort between, but what should I use to try and glue this little guy back together? any info would be greatly appreciated! Jim
Maybe try JB Weld? That stuff is awesome IMHO....It dries SOLID and will hold almost anything together

IIRC I've read that the coticule companies used a glue that had something to do with beeswax. I don't quite "get" that but I read it on the internet so it must be true. :) I once glued a pair together using Loctite Professional epoxy. Stuff works. Make sure you have it just like you want it if you use that. It ain't moving once it sets up. :chapeau
JB Weld is one of the most awesome things in the World! I've seen miracles. I glued a quarter to a sidewalk years ago, it won me a bet, and it took the bums over a week to get it off the sidewalk. They finally used a two by four with nails in it to pry it off! BUT, the surface MUST be CLEAN!!

I had the same problem you have. The stuff I used is at my shop and I can't remember the name of the stuff....will post it tomorrow.but I do remember it was a 2part thick paste and marine type. Put it this way...I glued a coffee mug handle back on with it over a year ago and it's been through the dishwasher many times with no problem and my coti is still together too.
Is that stuff double bubble? (Looks like the bubble gum of the same name) one is black, one is white, mix the two until grey? I used to use that in the air force, but don;t have any now... i think I do have some good marine epoxy, just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to mess it up... I also am thinking about crazy glue, since it is thin enough to make the stones fit back together in their own "glue print"....Quote:

I know one Beeswax trick for fixing/filling cracks. Rob Celis at the quarry told me some time ago, You need some Coti powder, I use a file (bastard) and a slurry stone to do that. You need a good amount, like 2 or 3 grams. Then you heat up the Stone to be repaired until it's good and hot. You can do it in an oven on 200 degrees. (I wouldn't do this with stones that are glued together) Laser Thermometers are great for this.
I'd heat up the surface of that stone in an iron pan. The stone must be hot enough to melt wax. Once the stone is hot, You rub the Beeswax over the stone, It'll suck it up, and then force the powder into the crack with a putty knife or something. You can also put some powder in prior to heating and waxing. Force as much in as you can.
Once the wax dries, it'll form a bond with the Coti dust, lap it flat, and your good to go.
Something like that.....YMMV
Actually, I have done this before, and it did work.
The stuff I used was PC-11 marine type ..works great !
