Hone Storage?
AM I supposed to leave my hones in water 24/7?
I own
Norton 4/8k
King 1k combo
dmt extra coarse
1 unknown glass type stone and 2 new additions I am trying to figure out wtf they are.

Soak them.use them. let them air dry,of the two above one is a slip used for sharpening gouges,the other have no clue.

Which one is a slip? Gouges on a razor? They both are pretty fine grit feeling.

The 'slip stone' is the wedge shaped stone. Machinists, gunsmiths, jewelers use them for getting the hone into irregularly shaped areas, like in the tool known as a gouge. No idea about that big rectangle but looks like someone got plenty of use out of it.

The second one, looks like a moon rock.
....maybe you can take it too a stone cutter/marble shop & have them shape it some more, it will save you a lifetime of lapping, then take it hame & put a DMT or 3M wet/dry on it. Most places won't even charge for something that small, it will take them less than 5 minutes on a wet saw table (don't know the real name of the machine) especially if you tell them your a honer of razors.Lemur and SirStropalot like this.
