I'm thinking we can be more creative; name it, register it, then Ebay it for a ton of money.
I want 30% for the idea. :beer1:

I have H.A.D. as bad as anyone, but never have I felt the desire to lick my hones.
Something just isn't right with it.
It's never right to take advantage of a rock!
Tho i licked one accidentally once.
I have evaluated an unknown stone and can ellaborate. As Vasilis spoke, if you think it is a fine hone, use it to finish. If it sucks, it is not so fine. Find a place in your honing progression for it. Compare shaves from it to, say a Norton 8k. A 4k. Something similar. Soon, you will be able to give it a number, and a place! Even synthetic stones appreciate some natural input, IMO.
Tell everyone it's 30k plus !

I was told on a pm, by a very polite member here (more than I would be), that the licking test, is a real test, but is not for taste, it's to find smoothness or roughness on the toungue (more sensitive than your skin). So I would have to do that again, when I get a chance. Thanks for correcting me, and it makes more sense to me now! Double O
Sorry Double0,
