It is a rare case indeed. But it is possible.
When you use fresh new diamond plate and don't flush the slurry in good time.
In these conditions the DMT plate could emit the diamond grit into the slurry.
Some hard hones like hard types of arkansas (TRANSLUCENT, BLACK HARD etc) can catch the diamond grit and hold it tight until you pick it off ( I use a carbide scriber ).
The same is for hard japanese natural stones.
The soft types of hones are pretty safe for it.
The SiC grit is far more brittle than diamond so it won't be embeded
This is why it is safer than diamond for flattening of hard stones.
