Man, I sure hope so. Seller says the color is distinctly yellow, so I'm hoping to get lucky.
Sorry, there's no chance of it being a Coticule IMHO. You're not the first that buys a stone like this by mistake. It's part of the ebay experience. Better luck next time :)
What could help is study Coticule pictures from this forum, there are loads. You can also pm someone for help before the end of an auction.
I am guilty of buying a coticule off ebay that turned out to be a India oilstone...
Thankfully the seller offered to relist it before they sent it.
I think this happens a lot more than most of us care to admit ;)

Meh, I can dump it at the local antiques market (probably for a profit) if it doesn't work out.
I started the lapping and stone color is light brownish yellow and slightly translucent. Color is mostly smooth without much mottling in the lapped areas. It's very hard and taking ages.
