I got this through a Chinese friend. Supposedly of Japanese manufacture. The included rubber foot and corner protectors are nice.

I would run it through its paces, then again I try a lot of uknown razor makers and have a few I like a lot more than some known names.
See how it does, keep us posted, and see if you can find out the maker.
I'm going to give it a run tomorrow and I'll post up.
Size is 180x60x27mm
Make sure it's dead flat and go for it!
Like the name eod7, You've worked with it?
Once heard over the radio; "EOD still have no idea if it's a IED or a UXO"
It's just initials. The gentlemen who do ordinance disposal have my great respect, from a fairish distance.
Sure is a nice looking hone.
Ok, I found it. I guess it's a Japanese stone made for German distribution that came to me by way of China.
OLEIO 2fach Nass Schleifstein 3000er/8000er - besser leben .... -
That looks a lot like the hone that was asked about in this thread. When you put it through its paces you might want to post your experiences.

I lapped it on 400 wetdry on glass. The faces were pretty flat from the factory. Laps quickly.
Soaked it for 5 minutes, 3000 side is pretty thirsty, 8000 side not so much.
I put an old chipped razor on to test. 3000 side grit is about right. Cuts fast, you could set bevels and remove small chips with this. It would be slower than a proper 1000 stone, but acceptable.
8000 side is actually 6500-7000 range. Cuts fast and good feedback. But not quite fine enough to get a really good shave off of. Need to go to a finisher from this.
I'm happy with it, it fills in the whole midrange for my stone set. I most certainly did not pay the prices shown in the links above though, I'd go for a Norton if I were already spending that much. I'm on the hunt for a 10000 finisher now.
it seems to be Chinese made waterstone by TAIDEA: Sharpening Stone (3000# / 8000#) / Model: T0914W

Company Name:TAIDEA TECH. (ZHONGSHAN) CO.,LTD

The writings on the stone are japanese:

ニューセラミックス --- new ceramics
These whetstones are sold under variety of trademarks.
I have had got my under NAKATOMI trademark:

Funny that this NAKATOMI trademark of "japan whetstones" is known in the Russia only.
I don't recommend these stones for razor sharpening.
I have done three razors so far and I'm now pretty happy with the stone. It's fast and the final finish off the 8K side is small scratches at 30X. A few minutes on the finisher and it's done. The high grit side is a bit better than I thought, I guess I hadn't lapped it far enough the first time.
Thanks for the update; I am interested to see any side by side type evaluation if the occasion arises.
Interesting and good to know! I see these a lot on eBay for around $30 and am probably going to pick up a 3K. I've looked at a few different threads and have read good things. Cheap, yes, but nice to know that they're decent.
Hi all, newbie here and looking for cheap honing equipment. From the pictures in the early comments it seems like these stones are sold under the brand UUSHARP from some Chinese resellers in alibaba (not many Google info so far). Any additional feedback is welcome.
Ok so I've been reading up on all your comments on the Taidea stones. Just bought one from ebay, from a seller named taqi_entreprise. He has a buy it now price for the Combo 3k-8k for 54.99 or Best Offer... so I offered 32.00 and he countered 35.00! yes! I currently own a Norton 4k 8k which I hate because its so tiny. Its the whipped dog version... 1" x 3". Anyways just thought i'd post this awesome offer here since you guys seemed interested in that stone.
Enjoy it & let us know how it performs.
As a newb and someone with scarce funds for these kinds of things I can honestly say it did help. but I would of definitely preferred
a full sized stone at this price. ($35) For somebody with limited funds and is not sure whether or not they're going to stick with this, I would definitely recommend either one of these. IMHO remember I'm a newb. :deal:
I brought this stone just before starting to hone and actually did my first razors on it. The 3k is probably pretty accurate but the 8 I would say is more like 7. That said I did do about 5 razors using this stone after bevel setting and before my dubl duck barbers hone and the razors were all good shavers. Its quite a soft hone and needs lapping frequently. I ended up getting naniwas and much prefer these both for feel and the edge they leave. Ed
If you use this hone yo should only need to finish the razor on the 1x3 8k side so will be a fair bit easier as it will almost be there already. Good luck. Ed
