Experience with dick.biz Honyama quarry hone and nagura?

A few weeks ago, I purchased the cheap Honyama Quarry Hone (Bruchsteine) and nagura (Natürlicher Reinigungsstein) at dick.biz. Results so far have been interesting and quite satisfactory, following mainaman's http://straightrazorpalace.com/advan...-tutorial.html with only my one nagura and the Jnat's slurry raised with a DMT8C, right after having set the bevel on a Shapton GS 1K.

I found under magnification that the bevel has a distinct look to it, which someone compared to rain on a windscreen. Usually, the HHT during honing and after stropping tells me enough about the level of sharpness I have achieved, but results from this combination are different. From other hones, HHT starts at some point with the distinct ping of the hair being cut, but the HHT off the Jnat is always silent, though it does not catch quite as often.

The shave is an improvement on some razors and not on others, in terms of sharpness and smoothness. I will have another go tomorrow with a razor I just finished cleaning up.


I am curious as to who else has experience with these hones and how they use them.
