That's what I used when I first started honing. It is a pretty common stone for making slurry. But after watching a few honing videos by gssixgun I took his advice and got a 325 DMT. If you plan to do a lot of honing (restorations, etc.) the 325 DMT is a great investment. But for occasional honing the nagura stone is fine.

The slurry stone will add cutting speed to your hone and in most cases decrease the grit. You can also raise a slurry on your hone with a diamond plate either dmt or atoma. The advantage to that is a 12k stone slurry wont have 1k particles mixed in that could cause some deeper scratches on your bevel.

As you can see from the responses this isn't quite so black and white

There are different types of slurry used for different purposes, the Nagura you linked would most likely generate a "Cutting slurry" that will introduce larger grit particles to the mix..

The art of slurry is a deep rabbit hole make sure you want to go down it

I used to use that one with my Kings. Worked well but absolute nightmare with my Shapton pros. The coarser grit was very obvious even after being rinsed off.

I don't know if the Nagura I'm using is the same one in the link you posted, but here's the one I'm using. Its white. The picture in the link you posted looks darker. I don't know if that's just the photo or whether there are color coding indicative of grits levels or something.
