Thanks for all the info OCD. Have watched Lynns video and will check out gssixguns too. Will try when I've got a bit of time to spare as I don't want to muck things up.

Im guessing you have chosera 10k. Chosera 1,5,10 is a progression that some guys use. As far as I know, most go on to a finer stone after chosera 10, rather than finish on it.

I started with the 1, 5, 10k naniwas and had great results. It will just mean a few extra laps between hones to remove the last hones scratchs. I didn't use the pyramids but they seem to have enough of a lap count that you should be fine. There wont be much difference in the 10 or 12 k hones is using crox after anyhow.
Check the dovo pastes grit ratings. The green is about 6k and the red is about 3k. If using after honing you will be going backwards.
Glad I didnt get the 12k if its not going to give a much better edge. Cant stop thinking about what else I can get though. This straight razor game is seriously addictive!
Naniwa 12K or Shapton GS 16K isn't much of a change if you are bringing out all the 10K will give. The suggestion of a 20K is a good one to follow your 10K, I have heard nothing but praise from folks who's reputation as honers is stellar. The 20K is on my bucket list for my next stone...like I need another one.
If you are looking at setting or re-setting bevels in the future once you have touch-ups down, you might consider a Chosera 1K.
