I think that Lynn's and Glen's one stone honing is interesting but after what have been said here it sounds like that is not possible with the Zulu.

I think it did for me but that is subjective. I don't know what your edges are like off the Nani 12K so really can't say what it would or would not do for you. If your edges are giving you all you want, what can I say? I mean really, the mantra expressed here is that you should be able to get a good shave off an 8K. Consider too I don't have years of honing experience either.

Wade are you just using a credit card sized DMT ? I already use my full sided DMT to lap and refresh my naniwas ,I was going to use it on the Zulu also Although I haven't honed a razor yet, I'm only looking to keep them sharp. Tc
I use it some for the "fine" side. But I dig the big slab of the 8" DMT. Use it most. Show them rocks who is Boss.
Methinks yeah. If the work gets done on the 1k, then all else will follow. You'll surely have to put more laps into the ZG than a synthetic finisher, but thassa just how it works.
I haven't had a lot of time to play around with my ZG but here's what I did and was satisfied with it for now.
Started with two shave ready razors on the Norton 8k 25 laps, then a Naniwa SS12k - 12 laps, ZG no slurry 150 lap - shave test and was satisfied with the results
I usually finish on a Yellow Couticule and .5 crox and am fairly happy with that, the ZG made a noticeable improvement to my shave. I'm sure as I play around with it more, it will get better
Looking forward to reading what every ones routine is with the ZG
Just thought I'd show two Zulus side by side to see the color difference. Haven't characterized either yet.
