LMAO
Let me begin by saying I am no hone meister. I am ok enough to get a good edge that I have to strop a bit to shave with.
So, I have a fromm 72r. There is no way to get an edge on this thing. The local barber 70 years experience could get a decent edge on it. (Felt like jagged sandpaper and pulling)
So I thought that's crazy. Must be those beautiful stones he has. 4 of them (I drool every time, they are in his will to his son)
So I hit the nortons. 1k no edge, then a wire edge appeared. Corrected that and then one side of the spine is starting to show hone wear. What?!?! Lapped the stones......must be the stones.... wire edge again.
Screw this circles. Nope. Ok j strokes....nope. X strokes. Nope. Butter knifing and start over. Nope.
Laughing. Try again the next day. Wire edge again. Now it's getting real.
Hone only the wire edge . Only the wire edge. 2 X stroke and the wire edge has returned.
Clap clap I am done.
It would seem one side of the spine is harder than the other. That or the edge is harder on one side but not the other. I don't really care, except that I am being beaten by a $100 cheap razor.
Any thing anyone else has tried? ? Lynn posted on an earlier thread stating that this one is hard to take an edge. Hard to a guy who has done thousands is a bit more difficult than I had anticipated....
