Here is an obvious burr/wire edge.
Looks like an edge Tom honed under 5x magnification,,,,,:D
Here is a bevel not quite set & taken to 8k & then to a Namito Jnat. This is sharp but uncomfortable. Note the shiny edge
This could be a very informative thread. I have never used magnification in concerns with straight razors. I did not know that the edge of a razor not fully set would look like that. Pretty cool.
This bevel is pretty much set but still showing the stresses of being rubbed on stones as evidenced by the sparkley reflections at the edge
This one has a small chip :p & owner said it was tugging a bit. Again some shininess/rounding at the edge which I interpret as strop induced. Notice also rust forming.
Mr. Onimaru, out of curiosity, what did you use to get these fantastic closeups?
Something like this?

Just something I stumbled across when I was looking for the 60x loupe that gets suggested. Fun fact: the local Hobby Lobby maxes out @16x for $15 :gaah:.
Same as previous razor. It is a Hart wedge. Bevel size has grown due to chip repair.
This is the completed edge finished on Jnat & stropped. 3pass shave & then restropped.
Notice no reflection off edge.
Next is a 20x pic of contact damage. Fingernail can do this but this is fairly hard contact as bevel is crushed to about half size. Hard to see but there are a couple of microchips to left of damaged area.
