I watched the whole video,,,, I then slapped myself really hard,,,,,:(
The only thing I took away from that video was that the man is really enthusiastic about his edges & his new microscope.
Members here have been chasing the edge with microsciopes for a long time, I actually like looking at a well established thread on the use of scopes like this one here:

My friend , you are not seeing a "beam of light", neither is the guy in the video,,, I don't have to be a scientist to know that,,,, you are seeing a "reflection" ,,,,,big difference,,, depending on how you hold the razor & cause the reflection makes all the difference in the photographs.
As I stated earlier, reflections are useful, when observed under a loop, to give you an indication on the width of the bevel from toe to heel & for spotting "micro bevels" established by different grit level hones.
