Geometry problem

Last night I decided to clean up and hone one of the wife's Boise purchases. It is a French point Wade & Butcher that is about a 4/8. I cleaned it up somewhat, and took it across my lapping films and finished it with my Arkansas black.

The question is this . . . on one side of the edge the bevel is fine, a nice even strip across the edge of the blade. No worries.
On the other side, the bevel thins out to almost nothing and then comes back out at the toe. The apex of this thinning out is about 1 inch back from the toe. Doing the arm hair test shows a noticeable difference in the smoothness of how it cuts. SO . . .

Am I correct in thinking this thinning out is a concavity in the edge?

If so, how do I correct it?

If it was a no name blade I would not be so fussed, but giving up on a W&B is just not on, and I REALLY want to try and sort this out myself, rather than send it out.

Obligatory crappy cell phone picture. Also, I was using one layer of tape from the outset, even though the spine looked like it had been honed without tape, previously.

There is a lot of hone wear towards the the middle of the spine which will give you geomerty problems to your bevel, try three layers of tape mark your edge with a permanent maker do a few passes then have a good look sometimes this will correct and overcome the problem, nothing ventured nothing gained.:-)

Yep looks like some hone wear , tape and magic marker will show the area , I think a lot of blades have some geometry issues ,,mthats why guys like Glen are so valuable. Tc

On that note, a sweet but of irony. Of my recent purchases, two of them had scales that were total write-offs. Naturally, THESE are the blades that have honed up nice and easy. **sigh**
