I've watched Lynn and Gssixguns vids over and over but when I'm done my razors are still just not sharp enough. IS There anyone who can show me what the heck I'm doing wrong? I've killed the edges on glass and reset the bevels but still feel like there is huge room for improvement.
Don't worry, there are a few members in Alberta and I am sure they will be along shortly. Might even be close enough for you to get some one on one time. What you are going through is pretty common when you are just stating to learn how to hone, it is steep learning curve.

We were fortunate to have Glen (Gssixgun) attend a honing workshop here in Calgary not that long ago. it really helped us all improve our skills which I would gladly share if you ever make it to CowTown.

Where are you in Alberta. There are quite a few members scattered about there. It is great if you can make meets, there is no learning like it.
In Red Deer.
There is help in Edmonton as well, depending on which way you travel the most. There may be other members in Red Deer but none come to mind right away. You can also send your blade to Edmonton to get is shaving until you have a chance to get some hands on time.
I'm in Edmonton and would be happy to hone free of charge. I actually happen to be coming through red deer on my way to Calgary this Friday morning.

PM thisisclog. He is in Edmonton most of the time and loves to help out. There are others too. Raol is in Calgary, he can hone. If all you want is it honed and have time you can mail it to me. You can also get honing done for money at Kent of Inglewood in Calgary. PM me and I can set you up with a guy in Edmonton if thisisclog (Jon) is busy. There are actually several guys in Edmonton but Jon would be your best point of contact.
