A well used 5/8 W&B near wedge that likes the Apache Strata.

Here's a Thuringian I got not long ago. It is different layers. One side is a green color & the other side is a blue color with couple shades in between. I had gotten this Kinfolks wedge that would not shave. I'll sometimes try a razor on my face to see if it will cut hair which some will even though they aren't shave ready. This razor wouldn't even cut hair.

I decided to try something different. I put one piece of tape on the spine & took my sharpie & put a black mark on each side of the edge. I made a slurry on the blue side first & I made 10 back & forth strokes. The sharpie was gone from the edge so I made 10 edge leading strokes. I diluted & did 8 more strokes, diluted & 8 more until I had just water X 8 strokes. I washed the stone off & flipped it over & put a new piece of tape on the spine. I worked up a nice green slurry..........

I made 8-10 strokes diluting each time until I was down to clear water & did that twice. I stropped on linen 15 times with green crox & X 100 on leather.
I got a BBS shave with it. I'm very happy with this stone.

On vacation in Italy:
Bevel setter (Chosera 1K), Coticule (La Grise), Translucent Ark, Livi loom strop (Crox and leather).
Rameau razor (13/16, France)
On the stones plenty of water, no slurry and half strokes only.
Have a great Sunday!
Some nice stones all.. travel safe over there. Here are twin Mappins, bevel set w/ water & half-moon pass.

I'm kind of bummed. I went to touch up two other razors and they have micro-chipping. Is it possible to take out micro-chipping with a 12 k? or do I need to invest in some lower grit hones sooner than planned?

Search jointing the edge. It is a light to no pressure 1-2mm push/pull stroke on the edge. 50 strokes or so later chipping should be gone and edge restored. This answer is dependant upon microchipping. I dont feel micro chips when blade edge is tested on thumbnail. In fact I have removed microchips using my thumbnail only. Ok I ran the edge along my nail , 50 strokes and checked my microchips went away. If microchips remain redo jointing on the thuri.

Couple of touch-ups today on coticule > translucent Ark > Neil Miller linen and shell cordovan.
Here is one method for refoming and restoring an edge on a near wedge profile with an un even grind or "warpage". My regrets if this should be posted under resto.
This Wade & Butcher arrived with no bevel ever having been properly set. Five layers of tape on the spine would not deflect the blade enough to make edge contact with the hone.

Steel should be removed manually off the spine to allow the edge to make contact with the hone to set the bevel. The Chosera 600 was used to remove steel and reform the profile. Dramatic spine wear is present. Now to repair the repair work.

Cosmetic spine wear is removed using conventional buffing compounds. After the blade has been restored you can use one layer of tape on the spine to "re set" the bevel. Chosera 1K.
