Here's a couple of blades that I finished restoring last week. A Winchester and an Adoration Ax. Just finished honing them on the Naniwas and will give them a test shave tomorrow. Attachment 254452
While I don't have any NOS Big Buck Razors, I do have several that are precious to me as they were given to me. While none have any real problems IF they did, there is no way that I would butcher them by grinding away instead of taking the time and patience to hone them.
About the Cherry Tomato Test, a local newbie was all hot an horny about it so I decided to test it and by God it works! I tested it using a freshly sharpened Paring Knife.
Oh and Solitary Soldier, you don't need to use tape for a touch up. Glen Proved that and put the information out for us in this video:

I tried 8K slurry on a PHIG today and the results look promising but I will find out for sure with the shave test tomorrow!
I thought I took the PHIG to just plain water but was surprised at the residue left when it dried.

Friodur on Jnats, very relaxing session. The Nakayama felt like butter

I don't post much in this section but I had some time so, 2 w&b specials, Franklin co. And my new Herr razor. Went back to 8k with the Herr to get some scratches out then on my 12k ss to finish. The others just got a touch up on the 12k ss.
The Herr had a great edge from the maker just the scratches bugged me so felt I should deal with it.
5 finished this weekend back out on Monday nice no nonsense batch with no issues.:)

Honed this W&B up tonight.
I restored this blade so it had no bevel. I set that on the DMT.
The heel had an angle in it due to a large chip removal that I had preformed earlier and the corresponding shoulder had what looked like a dent in it.
So I threw a mini square piece of tape within the dent and then added 2 layers of tape to the whole spine.
It wasn't easy and it took some time to get the bevel fully set , also rounding out the chipped corner part.
I took it through the full Nagura progression and it passed the HHT, plus the leg tree top test (my speciality )
I just shaved a weeks worth of growth away and I can only say that it is the finest edge to date.
Butter smooth with no effort , every stroke was a delight . Against the grain left no trace of anything and the one handed fools pass was spot on.
Its hard to believe that the best looking razor I've seen also has the best edge .
Very happy.. and I also learnt a bit more in the blade correction department . Wade & Butcher I salute you :)
Cheers..
