Hone on Gentlemen
Finally got around to putting my own edge on these, vintage Le Grelot Lotus Medaille D'Or Paris 1931 worked spines, purchased from a true gentleman of SRP!
Bevels flattened on a Shapton Pro 5k, followed by a piece of ungraded but very fine and very, very fast Mikawa nagura (the square one) from Alx, followed by koma and a tomo on a hard, fine Nakayama karasu. Edges smooth as buttah!
Cheers, Steve
Rehoned my Gazelle (prob. Krusius Br. Solingen). Previously honed with tape, now without. Bevel reset on a Suita. Finish on Thüringer with trace slurry.

wish you all a good evening by the hones.
Rescaled this gorgeous Daniel Peres, French tip blade, in Reindeer Antler and honed on 1,4,8,12k and finished on a GS20 and stropped on .50 CBN and leather. This blade takes to the 20K and CBN, it is a super shaver. I love the blade design with a deep etch, nice size and weight.
I have honed this razor for this customer for a few years with some funky deteriorating celluloid butterscotch scales, not off gassing, but turning white and crazing. His brother raises Reindeer in Alaska and sells antler shed as dog chews. About a year ago I asked him for some straight, 6 inch pieces and he supplied them when it was time to re-hone.
One piece buffed out brown and green molted, but curled like a potato chip when cut, this one came out pink and brown, one side has a little curve warp, but worked out ok, had to cut/grind near the marrow. This antler is very hard and took a bright shine, Chrome Oxide and wax finish, CA on the marrow inside. Hoping to get more Reindeer.

The reindeer antler looks like polished stone. Nice!
The scales look great. Maybe the ones that curled when cut needed more ageing - I was given some stag horn and was told it was a minimum two years before use. Certainly I had no problems with deforming when I cut - but that based on a sample of one - whereas your experience is now double mine.
F Herder from the Monday Marathon hehehe
Chosera 1-5-10 Went with my nearly Black German Thuringen for the finish starting with a light slurry ...

Hone on gents !!!
Glen, I understand from what I have read that the "crushed" slurry is made by rubbing the hone with the slurry stone, but dry with no water. Is the crushed slurry used dry or do you add water after the dry crushed slurry is made?!?! I'z just wondering....
