I Need The Experts! I'm Cofused

I have to go against the grain on the forum again. I am pretty sure I am going to be very unpopular,but questions in my head keep bugging me. It is the advice given out to well everyone by people with 2,000 post to 23,000. I know I shouldn't do this but ....there is a post called "Bevel Issues? Or What?" Where a man with a full beard shaves part of his face smooth and the other side as some razor stubble. This question is for the experts on the site. How did a sharp razor shaving only a few centimeters of skin get dulled to the point that it needed I can not remember how many circles of honing. Well I was hoping some one would read that post "Bevel Issue? Or What? I only want to debate the wisdom on here. :)

His bevel was not fully set from heel to toe..

Once the bevel was fully set, he polished out and stropped it up and the shave worked

The bevel set was the key to his issue, it had weak spots in it, you can often times actually see "Blunting" using the light test.. This makes for an inconsistent cutting action while shaving..

Really about 9 outta 10 honing issues can be traced back to the Bevel set

If you shaved and felt of you checks one was smooth and the other had razor stubble. Honestly would you take the razor back to the stone? Rinse the razor ? Put tape on it ? lol Sorry Are maybe shave that spot again?

You are taking the entire thread out of context, the guy was learning to hone he was adjusting his honing, as he was testing with shaving..

hehehe Same here Gen 4 is way better then Gen 3 if you haven't changed

No reason for anyone getting mad, this is a key issue and one that needs to be brought to the attention of a lot of straight razor honers out there especially new guys. There is a lot of info about straight razor shaving, especially honing and sometimes new guys can be overwhelmed (I know I was) with the info, blunt edges and the light test is just one more situation they will face. Thanks for bringing it up, it is an issue sometimes forgotten.........

Watching this video is a big help to understanding what blunting is and what the light test consist of. I had a time honing a razor a while back and didn't understand the problem and wasn't really sure what blunting meant or looked like. Watching this video brought it all to light and with some adjustment it wasn't long I had that problem razor shaving great.

I have the old 7000 hughes net , and the isn't parts for it anymore. I repaired it myself with guess what ........TAPE ! To keep a lizard out :)

I still need help I see more advice given out that makes me want to ask questions. Where do I ask them ? Do I open a new post ? Is it okay to ask them ! lol

If you have questions I would ask them its the only way to learn. For now I would keep it in this thread. Unless you have a very specific question about something your trying to do.

As to why you see the same answers from guys with high post counts and/or long time members it is because we all took different paths to learning but came to find many of the same results.

Thanks Castel33 I was just having fun giving them a hard time. Thanks reading the post :) I don't know why but the more I like folks the more I have to mess with them. I'm retired now and I don't get to talk much trash. My wife can throw a gin sue knife like she worked in circus. Just kidding ;)
