I just did 50 lapps-ish on the thuri with water. Now it has scratch marks where the 8k norton was more polished. Does that make sense? Wikid sharp now, for sure. I'll strop and shave with it when I get more fur.

Yes it does make sense
The Norton 8k is quite a polisher, much better then many give it credit for :)
Most naturals will leave more Scratches, some leave a Hazy finish, some leave a more Crosshatch finish,, Naturals are all about the "Feel on the Face" not the pretty shiny bevels :D

Never seen a Thuri look like that.
You can use glycerin also. I have a diluted batch made up for certain stones ie. DB & B Escher's. I believe on some the old literature and labels it was called sperm as a liquid to use on some stones. I really don't know what they meant by sperm but glycerin is just as slick. Maybe they meant spit? Hock a lugee on your Escher. Yuck!!! lol! Would also be very slimy though.
Remember, a little glycerin goes a very long way undiluted.
