I agree. I have a W&B American Razor with a primary bevel so wide it looks like a wood chisel. But...it's true toe to heel, top to bottom, which is all that matters.

I think that sort of phenomenon is likely due to a pile of pasted strop back in the day. Sometimes, a bit of a regrind will go a long way, esp as down near the bevel. JMO
6 hours and i dont know how many feet of tape later, I have a nice looking razor. No way I was going to HONE the damned thing with so many layers of tape. I took it to 4 layers and honed to clean steel. Then I dropped it to a single layer of tape Honed through the grits to 8k. Up to 2 layers, wash rinse repeat... and ended at 3 layers, until I had a bevel set. If you look close you can see the 3 lines where the multiple areas meet.
Toe actually had more hone wear, so its a little wider there. A very frustrating evening. Things us insomniacs do to pass the time, I tell you.

That looks nice, Steve! So...What's in the Lipshaw box?
I thought perhaps. They have always intrigued me. I like all things Lipshaw, whether useful or not! ;)
Take this gargantuan autopsy knife? Great for slicing brisket! :rofl2:

That turned out really nice Magpie, good work!
Nope! It is WAY too long and heavy and as I figured-out the angle with that removable spine slipped-on, it was double a straight razor! Without the spine on, it is a 'true wedge'!
Would be a dandy pepperoni slicer, I think!
