Looks like Tim is another coticule fan! Very interesting difference in coticule yellow between with and without slurry. Kind of confirms what others have said here in the past and gives some visual evidence.
Yeah, there was a thread a little while back on this - can't remember the title, but it was in the hones section.

I'm thinking of adding that Chinese 12K to my collection. I looked at one a while back at Woodcraft while picking up a Norton 4K - 8K. The stone looked very nice and consistent like the close-up seen in Tim's site.
I have access to a really big 2' x 2' x 8" granite machinists stone. It would be perfect for bringing the Chinese stone up to standards. Besides, for 30 bucks, if it isn't all it should be, I can sharpen my planer knives and chisels on it and never feel I was cheated.
