Chinese 12k and slurry?

Has anyone used the chinese 12k with a slurry? If so what did you use to make the slurry?

I have. I used a man-made Nagura stone to work up a slurry. I don't really know how much difference it makes but it seems to give the feeling of the blade along the stone a more abrasive feel and sound. For what its worth. However, I'm new to the honing thing.

i do not use a slurry on my 12k. just soak it for a bit and keep a little bit of water next to me to keep the stone damp during use.

i agree that slurry tends to make the stones more abrasive. i use it on the 4k side of my norton when establishing bevels on restorations/ebays etc etc. i personally don't do it on the finishing steps as this point you are trying to refine more and more and go less and less abrassive/lighter at the end. you hear of people using 0.25 pastes, 30k sharptons and even newspaper, from that it seems the less abbrasive at the end the more fine the edge and thus why i do not use a slurry on my 12k.

Well i tried using a man-made nagura stone and as straight and loving it said its makes it way to aggressive, so what i did was cut a 1" piece off the end of the chinese 12k and made a slurry with that and i have to say it works pretty well and speeds things up a bit.
