i have a shapton 2k waterstone that i have just rediscovered that come with a set of sushi knives, would this be any use for honing razors?
i have used it to sharpen the knives but that was ages ago hence it being forgotten about so if i could utilise it with my razors aswell that would be cool, if not i might try shaving with my sushi knives!!:eek:
It might be ok to remove oxidation and big nicks but it sounds a little low in grit for shaving off of.
2k is a good starting point for kitchen knives (ok I start at 2k for my knives...) and as stated above, unless your fixing a small glitch that is.
My Low stone is the 1200 king and it only sees the razors after I set a new bevel from the DMT 320. Otherwise I only used the 4/8k and 6k stones, pasted strop and hanging to finnish.
The Shapton 2k is a good stone, hang on to it.
Why'd you tell him that DC, I could have had that for a song! ;)
