    Again. Try it. You strop every time you shave. What do you have to lose? If it doesn't work out then DON'T DO IT AGAIN. If it does.work.out then you have discovered a new technique at least for you.

    I have used denim glued with contact cement to plywood with various abrasives over the years. Denim makes a good substrate when glued to a flat surface.
