Does anyone know the difference between the DMT D6C and DMT D8C? The D6C seems to be about half the price.

the 6 series is cheaper because they are smaller.

Oh yeh, just found that it's 6 x 2 x 1 /4in, so quite a bit smaller.
I guess you need to use a flattening "stone" bigger than what your lapping (i.e. Norton) :(

In the DMT line, the number seems to refer to the length. So the DMT D8C is 8 inches long, and the DMT D6C is 6 inches long. For lapping I'd definitely go with the 8 inch version. If you're pinched for cash, the DMT D6E works well for low-grit honing.

Yep I use D6E for bevel creation.
I also prefer the D8C. Twice the surface area of the D6C comes in really handy for lapping.
