Can you help identify this hone?

I purchased this hone on e bay last weekend and I'm in the process of flattening it.
It's a razor hone without doubt. It feels glass smooth. It is green/grey in colour with a black flec in the stone that looks a bit carbon like. The second picture magnifies the surface a little to show the flec. It came in a nice box with a lid. Looks like satin wood.
It measures 180mmX40mmX13mm or 7"X1.5"X.5".
If you sand the surface, it makes a white slurry.
It's a metric measurement so probably comes from mainland Europe. It dates to around the 1940's/50's.
Any idea what it is?

With no experience whatsoever to go on... Might it be an escher?

That's a tough one. Most Thuringers are much less mottled than that stone appears to be.

Looks more like the Tam O'Shanters in Makar's thread than anything else.

Try it out and see what kind of scratch pattern is produced. Do you have anything to compare it against?

I have one like this. It measures 9" X 1,5" It came in a nice mahogany box with a lid with J. E. NICHOLLS pressed on the box and on the lid.
It is a hard stone of very fine grit, but my impresion is that it is an oilstone.
I never used it so I dont know more about it.

Mine is not an oil stone. It's a refined water stone

I have finished flattening it and used it to hone a couple of razors.

It appears to works well, but I have not test shaved yet.

Very interesting pattern on this hone - I haven't seen anything like this yet. :)
