Seal in vintage coticules

Visited an old barber to see their vintage Coticule. They are very clear color and rough to the touch. One of them has more than 100 years and the other is about 40 years. It has a seal but is ilegigle. Does anyone know anything about the stamps in Coticule vintage?

I can't really help you with the stamps, but I know there were many different mines. I read a figure of over 50 family operated mining pits. And there were probably many more resellers, who might have "rebranded" the stones they sold. Earliest written evidence of coticule mining activities date back to the midst of the 17th century.
Apart from raw coticule stones, I've never seen a coticules that were "rough to the touch". Puzzling.

I assume when you rean rough to the touch you mean very coarse which if its the case is probably not a true coticule since they are not coarse but pretty smooth. When you say clear color do you mean light in color or clear like transparent or translucent?

You'll note that there is a faint stamp on the surface of this stone of mine. The stone in the pictures is estimated by Rob and others at the mine that viewed the pictures, including an "old timer" there at 100+ years.

Is that the kind of stamp you're talking about?

Yellow very light in color, almost white

Yes very similar. The stamp was one of the sides

Touch was coarse and I think maybe out of a bad quality, but I can not secure it. I am sure that is a Coticule.
