Water on a dry stone?

I just got through doing 10 laps on my Spyderco UF to touch up my first razor after a week's use. It seemed to help a bit, although I wouldn't say it brought the razor back to where it was when I got it. (Maybe I need to do more laps, but I didn't want to risk over-honing.) Here's my question: the stone is designed to be used dry, but I've found it easier on other wet/dry hones to use water because the surface tension helps me keep the whole blade in contact with the hone. I noticed with the Spidey that this was a bit tricky. Will it change the performance of the stone if I put some water on it? What should I expect?

It shouldn't matter much.
The spydercos are ceramic stones which do not raise a slurry. It's the surface of the stone itself which is abrading your razor.
So you can use water or lather on the stone and for the honing performance it won't make any difference.

Be sure to let the stone dry out when you're done using it.
If you put it away wet, then all sorts of things might start to grow inside :D

remember, if you need water for your stone, you first need to fix that bucket.

Water should be fine, avoid honing oil as it tends to clog up the pores and decrease the stone's performance. Even oil stones often work better with water.

My UF works ok with water. As stated, let it dry before putting it away.

You can use it wet,dry however you want, clean it every so often so it will keep doing its job
