Microscopes
Wasn't sure which area to put this in, so I picked this one. I just ordered a USB compatable microscope from MCM Electronics
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/conten...3/58-12955.jpg
$59 bucks plus shipping. 100x, 300x, 450x, 600x and 900x. built in digital camera as well.
I'll post more info on it after I get it. You can check it out here : PC MICROSCOPE USB CONNECT | DISTRIBUTED BY MCM | .
I've been away for a little while, but check in and lurk occasionally. Hadn't seen much discussion on using scopes lately. I remember at one time it was a pretty hot topic. Hopefully this will take my honing to a higher level.

Err, maybe you should come to my little Mid-Mo get together. I have my HDTV hooked up to my PC, c'mon down!!

Thanks for the invite. Not sure if I could make that but would be real cool to meet everyone.

UPDATE
This little thing works pretty good. The rundown:
- built in light is from below. No good for us but if you put a lamp next to it, you get plenty of light on the blade
- being able to see the blade on a screen makes it easy to see good spots / bad spots and you know where it is exaclty on the blade when you look back at the scope.
- very easy to hook up
- price is great
This helped me out immediately on honing up junkers and finding if the bevel was ready or not. once I seen scratch marks all the way to the edge, I knew then to start the preliminary tests. Very neat item.

How about posting a few of the pics the scope took. I might be interested in one. Are you pleased with the quality?
By the way I haven't got around to getting any barberchair pics yet. May get to it this weekend.

Manufacturer note:
If you follow the installation instructions for the telescope then you will have installed the microscope.

I bought a Dinascope and there was no software to save the image.
Thankfully for my Mac there was a free software download I heard about called Capture Me which does a great job.
