Thoughts on my new acquisition

Just bought this

What do you think?

Without a brand Its hard to guess at how it will do on a razor. With hones of unknown provenance its always best to experiment carefully as you work it in to your sharpening scheme.

I have two brown hones that feel very similar, one will take a slightly dull razor and make it very sharp again while the other will take the same razor and make it completely dull using the same number and type of strokes.

$2.47!!?? I think that's definitely worth the gamble. Regardless of whether it's a rough or really fine hone, I'm sure there will be a use somewhere in the honing regime for it. For that price, it's certainly worth a shot ;). I think it's a great buy.

Exactly, it could always be used to just sharpen knives if it does turn out to be crap!
