Thuringian Porosity
Hey all,
I just have a quick question: Generally how porous are Thuringian hones? I assume they are more porous than a coticule, for example, because of the warning of keeping them away from oil and grease. But then why wouldn't they need to be pre-soaked, like other porous stones? Or is it just because they are only slightly porous?
I was just wondering that question when I was looking at my thuringian and my coticule :o

I don't think they are porous at all.
Whatever, you don't presoak them. Just splash water on the surface and ready to go.

For the most part natural stones are not very porous. Some of the Japanese stones are more so but compared to ceramic stones they really aren't.
