Woohoo! Four DMTs for 100 bucks!
Sweet! I just snagged a DMT D8XXC, D8C, D8F, and D8EF for 100 bucks. The XXC has been used for waterstone flattening, and the others are all in like new condition. Which is great, to me, because I have no problems with getting the XXC already broken in!! :) Now to find the DMT EEF and the XC for forty bucks or so....
So... where did I get it you ask? Remember that we aren't the only guys to use these hones. If you are looking for hones and want to save quite a few bucks, check the kitchen knife forums and woodworking forums. (Most forums for pocket knives are dominated by jigs and systems for sharpening, not waterstones...)
They almost always have a buy/sell/trade section, and you can pick up lots of stuff for cheap. If you've been cruising through badger and blade, SRP, and shavemyface, the shave den and who knows where else looking for hones but are coming up empty, expand your horizons. Kitchen knife nuts and Woodworking nuts are just as fanatic about sharp edges as we are and often times cycle through different hones like we do shaving soaps.
What... did you think we are the only guys with acquisition disorder?
