I mean i wasn't too bright and after rinsing off my hones, left the DMT in the sink to soak and took the C12K out to dry off :gaah:
I assume the rust is from some built up steel that was left on the hone and will probably come right off with minimal work

I thought it might be useful to post a picture of mine as a reference point. This is my DMT8E (1200) after lapping my Norton 4/8K. I was using water and washing-up liquid and rinsing off regularly, but didn't do it under the tap. It still hones, but I suspect it's a bit smoother and slower than it's meant to be :(

That's what mine is looking like, except the bits of shiner spots along your edges are not as pronounced as they are on mine. Hope I haven't killed it. :confused:

If it will scratch glass there are still diamonds in the matrix and it should work fine.
