Swaty does nice job, razor is VERY sharp.

Man feels bad he was going to sell Swaty for low low price.

Swaty is happy not to be piece of crap.

    to be continued........

the point of this story is that my Swaty was glazed and therefore would not hone.
It took a VERY VERY aggressive lapping with very coarse abrasive to break the glaze and make it hone again.

When I got it I had suspected that someone had been rubbing a knife on it.
I lapped and lapped and lapped to no avail.

If you have a Swaty that just doesn't hone, try lapping the hell out of it.
    GRIND THAT SUCKER !!!
lap it and it will hone !

I like the story, and the style too. I have to agree that Swaty's are amazing finishers. If not for them being so small, I would have hung onto one of mine, but I just haven't been reaching for them lately.

I love it. I may ask to use that as my signature line.

No, it should be amended to

"...never, ever sell a hone... unless you sell it to me!"

I'm gonna list a couple of barber hones tonight (mon)
    Cushion Strop (med fine)
    Gem (fine)
I just have no use for them really.

I'm selling stuff to trade up to a coticule, Norton 4/8K and maybe a thuringian

I'll keep my Swaty though (now)

A norton, coticule and thuringian is a perfect setup in my opinion. I'm not saying that it's THE perfect setup, just one of them. (It's also exactly what I have....)

Just something to consider, but if you go with a 1K and a BBW/coticule, it'll do the same work as the 4k/8k, and it's can be a less expensive route.
