    Default bevel setting

Is it possible to over hone while setting a bevel on dmt 1200 i ask because i read you carn't but you would just waste metal? I should imagine if you did too much maybe the egde would chip or crumble a bit. I always hone untill plenty of grip on tnt and tpt feels realy good and then i always do a thew more laps just to make sure. What amazed me was in doing the tnt after i tryed to shave arm hair and the egde would'nt tnt took my edge away 10 more laps and shaved arm hair again.

It's not really possible to overhone on that stone in the sense that you are thinking of, on the other hand the Thumb Nail Test (TNT) can destroy an edge. It's a useful tool to diagnose problem edges, but if you use it and don't put another ~20 strokes on the edge afterwards I wouldn't trust it.

Basically when you are setting a bevel you are looking for a shiny surface along the entire edge of the blade. If you see a dull spot you may want to think about changing your method.

I have never used that stone, I use a Global 1k ceramic waterstone.
