I am looking into getting a vintage barber's hone. Can anyone recommend good brands that are equivalent to a Franz Swaty? Thank you!

I've got a Swaty but I think if you do a search on the Swaty you will find mention of several brands that are equal to the quality and perform on the same level for a similar price.
Joe
Panama hone 2 sided.
made in Chicago
Carbonumdum(sp)
Pike and Pike Swaty
"Apart" hone is good. I also like the "Aloxite"
PuFF
My favorite barber hones are a Swaty and a double sided Hoffritz (lower grit blue and fine brown sides). The Hoffritz is my travel hone for blade touch ups. It works beautifully when I put a little lather on it. No good for major sharpening, though.
I have a few that are "equivalent" to a Swaty... but I would get something better than a Swaty if I was you.
Get a Carborundum razor hone, I like the results much more than a Swaty, and the feedback feels more like a natural hone.
I recommend the 102 or 101 stones.
Either that or one of the Oleans hone company dual grit barber hones. I sold one to a friend that gave fantastic edges.
I agree. I have one of these. It's a beautiful swirled hone that actually looks like a natural stone hone rather than man made. However, alas, upon close inspection is has a hairline crack running through it that although virtually unnoticeable, makes me not use it.
I have what I believe is a rare barber hone known as a "Perfect" hone. It's fine if not finer than the 3 line Swaty I had. hard ultra-smooth hone like glass.

Thank you all for your replies.
I think I am going to go with a carborundum 102! Seems like other people like that hone plus If every one is trying to get a Swaty because they are popular, I would like to get something a little bit different :p
