Is that the stuff Chris has? The Good Stuff.....
Order placed:)
I'm in as well ! thanks for sharing a good deal !
That looks like a substantial amount of powder in there....You could probably paste a whole cow with that much! :roflmao
But that is a good price. Thanks for sharing.
yeah I grabbed one!
What makes that "The good stuff"? y thought that powder CR2O3 was the same as powder CR2O3, but perhaps I'm missing something.
The question is: what makes CR2O3 from Handamerican "the good stuff"?
You can get it from other places and I'm sure it's the same thing
Ah, I understand now. I've researched chrome ox quite a bit over the last few years and although I'm not a chemist or chemical engineer, I've learned a bit about it from what I've read, and from talking and emailing with some lab supply companies and a large chemical company rep who sells large (pallet sized) quantities of chrome ox.
Could other sources of .5 micron chromium oxide powder be the same thing as the Hand American resold powder? Yes, certainly it's possible.
Is all "chromium oxide" CR2O3 powder the same? Absolutely not. It's available in different particle sizes and in different purities. Even within .5 particle size powder there are varying grades. House paint manufacturing companies are not buying the same purity level and grade chrome ox as cosmetic companies are because they have no reason to.
Virtually all chrome ox is manufactured in.........you guessed it....China.
You would be laughed at and almost guaranteed to be unsuccessful at buying even what we would consider to be a large quantity of high quality .5 mic chrome ox because what we consider to be a large amount (let's say 25 pounds of the stuff) is dustpan material for companies that use it for the products they make. If someone owns an actual business and has an FEIN # and wants to buy huge quantities of chrome ox, then you'd be able to tap into a supply; a supply that for our purposes, really has a small demand.
So no, not all chrome ox is the same. And yes, the Hand American repackaged chrome ox is some of the good stuff. The best? Maybe not. It sure works well for what we use it for though.
