Leslie Antique Razor and Rotary Hone
This was a scratch your head decision on where to put this post but since I'm mainly covering the hone the razor comes with I figure it goes here.
Anyway, I picked this razor set up on ebay and it has a bunch of proprietary blades with it some new some honed. In the pic you can see the razor as well as the cases that hold all the blades. Also the handle screws onto the hone portion. The hone is very hard leather over steel and comes with a Marvel Carborundum stick to put on the leather during honing. You can see the gears on both sides. When you turn the knurled knob the gears turn the strop portion and the blade runs back and forth across the leather. In the first picture you can see the small blade in place ready to be honed.
How old is it I have no real idea but I'd say turn of the 20th century or so. It sure is unique and I thought some of you would enjoy seeing such a unique honing system. It's marked Leslie, Boston Mass.
I know Ron has an interest in old honing contraptions like this so maybe he can shed some light on this unique setup.
Enjoy!
