Boker King Cutter
Just got back from the Rose Bowl Flee Market. Picked up a new old stock Boker King Cutter, a Filarmonica Doble Temple and two other razors.
The Boker has not been honed but when they ground the edge looks like the fellow hesitated during the pass there is a slight step about 3/8 inch long and about 1/3 of the bevel deep from the tip back.
How do you recommend starting on this to avoid excessive wear.

post a pic of that Boker in the boker brotherhood thread!

Doc here are some pictures. The shadow in the third picture shows the step. The bevel it self shows a dark area also it must be a difference in how the flash was reflected. If you give me a link to the thread I can also post there.

I think all you need is time on your bevel setter [1K stone]. It may take a while but it should be OK.

I'm not sure that I 'see' what you're talking about but like 2sharp said, the bevel setter. I find that circles as prescribed by Lynn do the trick followed by the x pattern.

Boker
Thanks guys. Even though I have honed over 40 razors since I started buying heavily I am just a little timid to start a new expensive one. Its kinda like the old movies with the timid diamond cutter. I hope it will not be as much honing as razors that are pitted to 1/3 the depth of the bevel.
