honing: the good, the bad...
Well My Dovo was starting to pull a bit, due in part to shaving every day and in part to poor stropping at times. Although I have not had alot of luck honing my "e-bay" razors, I thought I would do just 5 laps on my norton 8K. I followed that with 10 laps on crom-ox. Well the good news is that I got that Dovo nearly as sharp as it was when I got it fresh from Lynn's hones. The bad news is that while enjoying my shave, and patting myself on the back for a job well done, I hit my razor on the faucet! It didn't chip it, but it did dent the edge. I was able to push most of said dent out with my thumb nail, but it is still going to take some work. The ugly part... I went ahead and finished the shave, tring to work "around" the dent. After losing maybe a quart of blood, I figure that was a mistake. Now the question is, do I try to fix it on the 4K 8K combo? Or, do I look like a dirt bag for a week while I send it off and use my SRD free first re-honing? Or, do I try to fix it, fail, send it in anyway, and hope Mr.Abrams dosen't send me a nasty letter wondering what I did to this razor? I thank you for your thoughts.
