I think I found a reason to tape the spine.
First the razor that enlightened me. Looking at the
pix I guess I should have wiped the bit of the soap off a bit better.

That is a beauty! Congrats and I am sure it will shave as good as it looks! For sure the Gold Wash will look better on the blade than the hone.:):)

I have a Dovo with a similar goldwash, but it cleverly does *not* have any actual gold wash at the point where the spine would be touching the hone (from the picture, yours looks the same way). I bet you don't need tape for that razor if your objective were to protect the wash.

Happy for two reasons: First is the respect for "new"
that the vendor shows and second respect
to me by way of informing how the bevel was set
so I could continue to maintain it in a like way.
Bottom line.
Some blades are "purdy" and I like to keep them
that way when I can.
Great looking blade, especially that one piece horn handle. What is the balance like?
