Thanked: 0I need somebody else to sharpen my razor
I bought a straight razor off eBay. It's been a while, but I've used a straight razor before, and I judged this to be an uncomfortable and ineffective shave. The blade has no obvious problems a good sharpening wouldn't correct. My problem is, I've never honed a edge on a razor. I'm going to learn, but I want to use this thing before then. No barbers in my area can help. Anybody know of a reliable honing service? I'm in Detroit. Thanks.

Well a number of people will be able to do a terrific job at honing your razor (assuming that it doesn't have any non-obvious problems) for a very modest fee. Lynn, of course is the person who classicshaving.com uses, for $20. Now that I think about it, there should really be a list of senior honemeisters who have lots of experience that newbies can contact for sharpening. I offer my services, modest as they might be, for nothing but postage both ways. Though I guarantee it won't be as scary sharp as Lynn and co, since they are far more seasoned than I.
Best,
Mark

Thanked: 0Thanks for the reply, Mark. I'm grateful for the offer, but how might I contact Lynn to see if he'd do it for me?

His e-mail is adjustme69@yahoo.com. He travels out of town on business regularly, so it might take a day or two for a response.
