What do you guys think of sending your honed razors to one of the honemeister's to grade your work......lol. If anyone wants to pay postage, I'll check out a razor you've honed and let you know what I think. What do you think.....lol. Lynn

I was thinking along the same lines only slightly different, how about an annual Honemeister Contest? We could all send our best work in to a 3 party who would mark the razors so that the judge(s) can't tell who's is who's. :hmmm:
Othewise, I do think that's a good idea and I was thinking of doing just that using the Classic Shaving Straight Razor Edge Repair - Evaluation & Estimate link and just adding a note for you to evaluate the edge for me. At a $1.99 it would be well worth it for me (plus shipping both ways of course).

Here is another idea how about I send my razors to the contestants They hone them and send them back to me and I will be very happy and announce a winner.. :D :D :D :D. I think it is a really good idea.
I've thought about this actually, but since I'm still improving my edges (microscopically) I'll wait until my technique flattens off what with a new ston now, wanting another as well as trying out the 0.25µ diamond paste, it'll be a little while. For the cost of postage though, I might take the intermediate step of sending one to you for a honing and comparing them myself first. Once I'm satisfied with what I'm capable of a few months from now, I'll probably send one out for validation.
Hey! will there be some kind of grading or graduate certificate of authentic Honemeisterness to follow? :D

I think this would be an excellent idea. I actually have 264 razors I would like judged and returned on the same day...is that possible? hahahha, just kidding.
But, I really do like the idea. Is there any way to come up with a grading scale so we could determine where we are in our honing skills? You know, if an objective system could be devised it could go down in history as the SRP scale. We would see it on ebay: for sale is X razor, sharpened to a 9 on the SRP scale.
Please let me know if this idea is going to happen. I want to send in my prized shaver and see how it ranks.

I like naming the grading system, from 'Ouch' throught to 'Yowza'.Quote:

This just sounds like some kind of ploy to me <g>. Lynn is tired of honing his own razors and wants our sharp ones so he can have some free shaves! The nerve <g>.

Was that if the razors weren't up to shave sharp quality the honemeisters would make them that way....LOL
I think that's a great idea. Because I'm just starting to hone, I'll be willing to send the razors to a honemeister for an evaluation.
I'm in!
