A new Dovo out of the box usually has a pretty good bevel, but they are certainly not shave ready by my standards. When I went to visit Lynn, he showed me how he hones Dovo's out of the box, and I tried 24 myself (6 each from 4 different models, including 12 Bismarks). I found that I was able to use Lynn's 40-40-10 method starting on the 5k, moving to 10 X's on the 8k, 10 X's on the 12k, 10 laps on .5 diamond on felt, strop and shave. Every Dovo that I did this to passed the shave test. Based on that limited experience, I'd say Bismarks are no harder to hone than any othe Dovo, and none of them are really hard to hone. As far as how to hone them, the above worked for me on Naniwas, but I cannot speak for other hones (though I imagine a similar progression would do the trick on any quality hones).

I have stroped the razor before and after each shave. I have only got a cheap strop, what is the difference between a good and a bad one?

    thanks for all the info
