I just picked up a Chinese 12K. Can anyone point me to vid or pics of how to make a good slurry (doesn't have to be for this particular stone). I searched but couldn't find one. Thanks.

Check out Barts Coticule.be site, I dont remember if its a .com or what but he does have a link to it in his sigline. Also, 330mate has videos in his listings for stones on ebay, and there may be some in the wiki, I do know that barts unicot and dilucot methods are described there and both use slurry.
From what I'v been told you should only use a slurry up to a 8000 grit stone
because the slurry actually has a grit in it and can turn your higher grit stone into whatever grit the slurry is
for instance if the slurry is 8000 grit and your stone is 16000 and you use a slurry stone on it you just made your 16000 into an 8000
if anyone has any info on this please let me know if this is wrong ?
this is just what I'v been told and it makes sense kinda
I think Zib was cutting up C12ks and using those pieces as slurry stones. He used to sell them in the classifieds, but I am not absolutely sure he still does. The thing I see suggested most is to just cut a small chunk off the end of the C12k with a tile saw. I do believe you are right though on having to be careful to not contaminate the surface of your stone, some choose to only lap with a diamind plate for that very reason, and you could just work up a slurry with said lapping plate instead.
A safe way to make slurry on high grit stones is to use 1.2k diamond plate
here a vid I found on Youtube, its jnat stone but it gives the idea

I do rememeber Zib selling C12k coticules, and I've seen members saying they use slurry on a C12k. Personally, I never did. The C12k is a very slow hone, and I knew that when I bought it and accepted that it would take a fair number of laps to get an improvement from it. I personally would advise not using a slurry on the C12k - you just want to polish, which means you do not want to cut aggressivly (which is what a slurry does) and you do not want to risk rounding your edge ("bumping" into the slurry and having it forced under and over the edge will do this a bit).
Honestly, in your position, I'd just go from the 8k to the ChromeOx on balsa - I bet the chrome ox is faster and I don't know how much of a difference you'll notice if you use the C12k in between... I guess try both ways since you have both and see what you like.
I also have one of those C12k hones, and recently I tried making a VERY light slurry on the surface with a DMT diamond hone to cut back on the number of laps. By very light, I mean you can BARELY see the "grey/white" color of the slurry in the water.
Just from initial results, if you keep the slurry very light, you can cut the number of laps in half, and you will still get a very fine edge.
I also go to CrOx balsa after, and have not noticed any difference other than doing less laps, which isn't a bad thing ;)
zib did sell C12k slurry stones, but from my understanding he doesn't have anymore. And yes, if you plan on cutting one off yourself, go to Lowes, etc. and look into renting a wet saw. Or find someone that cuts tile that can possible do it for you.
